What this site keeps, and why.

This is the personal portfolio of Erik Sriubas (“I”, “me”). It is a static page with no accounts, no forms and no advertising. Like most websites it keeps a private access log so that I can understand who is looking at my work and keep the site safe from abuse. This page explains exactly what that log contains. Effective 28 October 2026.

What is recorded when you visit

When your browser loads a page here, the server records:

Cookies

The site sets one first-party cookie containing a random identifier, so that a return visit from the same browser can be recognised as the same visitor. It expires after one year, cannot be read by scripts on the page, and is not shared with anyone. There are no advertising cookies, no social media pixels and no third-party analytics scripts. Blocking or deleting the cookie does not affect the site in any way.

Why I keep this

Two reasons. First, to understand my audience: whether the people viewing the portfolio are recruiters, companies I have applied to, or friends, and which parts of the site they find useful. Second, security: to recognise automated traffic, abuse, and attempts to probe the site. Under the EU and UK GDPR the legal basis is my legitimate interest in both (Article 6(1)(f)). No decisions with legal or similar effect are made about you.

Who else processes it

The log is handled by three service providers acting on my instructions:

These providers operate in the United States, so information may be processed there. I never sell visitor information, never share it for marketing, and never publish it. It is disclosed only if the law requires it.

How long it is kept

Records are deleted automatically after twelve months. Copies I download for review are kept on my own equipment and deleted on the same schedule.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the information held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its processing, or to receive a copy. To exercise any of these, email erik@eriksriubas.com. Because records are tied only to an IP address and a random cookie, I may ask you for the approximate date and time of your visit and the network you used in order to find them. If you are in the EU or UK you may also complain to your data protection authority. California residents: I do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.

Links to other sites

The site links to GitHub, LinkedIn and other external services. Once you follow a link, that service's own privacy policy applies.

Changes

If this page changes, the new version and its effective date will be posted here.
